We want to transform healthcare
WITH YOU!

We Take Care of Us is a cooperative building towards a unique model of shared governance in healthcare

Two adults pushing two toddlers in strollers. Two smiling people. One is seated in a wheelchair, wearing a long-sleeve shirt and pants. The other pushes the wheelchair from behind, wearing overalls and a short haircut.

We Take Care of Us has formed as a worker-cooperative. Currently, membership consists of our midwives and other staff.

Over time, we hope to grow into a multi-stakeholder cooperative. This means recipients of care and other community stakeholders can also become members, and share in governance of the healthcare space we create together.

To do this, we need your participation and guidance. Please fill out the interest form below if you’d like to join the conversation about how to make healthcare cooperative!

- Acknowledge the impact of systemic oppression on health, and actively work to transform these conditions

- Prioritize people over profit

- Facilitate redistribution of resources to support access, reduce barriers and build solidarity within our care community

- Welcome the expansiveness of each person’s identity into the care environment

- Put care recipients and providers in control of our healthcare

- Invite care providers to practice in alignment with our values

- Build meaningful connection between members, linking individual health journeys and collective processes of liberation

Through cooperation, we:

What is a cooperative?

Cooperatives are organizations owned, run and governed by and for their members—to meet common economic, social and cultural goals.

We Take Care of Us is fortunate to have the support and technical assistance of Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance (PACA)

PACA is the “co-op of co-ops,” supporting democratically organized businesses to grow a cooperative economy in the Philadelphia region. PACA is a great resource for those interested to learn more about the cooperative model.
